The Sixth Sense |
Have you ever sat somewhere
where people are engaged in banter and you become engrossed in the chat that
something gives you the urge to give your two cents especially when you find
the talk so misleading or full of cheap fabrication?
Then there are certain times, take the example of a motivated student in high
school. Chances are after an inspirational talk; the student will take his
books and peruse them with the zeal of a zealot who praises his master
relentlessly. Such times, the student will find the urge or drive that will
contribute in making his or her academic performance shine with luster.
Never underestimate a child. No one is as ears as a child. When a child is
among his elders, he may feign ignorance that he may not be listening. But
there is a fact; children are usually on ears to capture some of the most
unthought-of sentiments. If you lie or say something alarming in front of a
child, be sure he is listening. Worse is when you wrong a child and you think
that he will forget especially when he is innocent.
Have you ever asked yourself why some visionless people live to ages past 100
with ease? These people never have anything to die for. In their life, they only
think of themselves. The much they usually think of is only ensuring they put
food on the table and sleep soundly till the next day. Rarely do you find
visionary people living past 100. Why? They shoulder the burden of the world
and as such become stressed to the point where if they can’t handle the fact
that the buck stops with them, then depression kills them.
Those who don’t have anything to die for usually frustrate the people around
them. A person who has nothing to stand for will at times decide to do things
that as a person of sane character you may find the demeanor outrageous or
preposterous.
Our minds have the freedom of thought. It’s upon us to reign in on our
thoughts. Our creative abilities cannot go unrecognized if we take time to
nurture them and find ways of augmenting them to greater heights through
persistence and patience. Sometimes we only fail just because we never injected
the right emotion for our aspirations. When negative emotions outdo the
positive ones even by slight measure, then the result is devoid and full of no
optimism.
Sometimes I usually compare life to the journey on the road. As a driver, you
have to first go through the hurdles of the road. First, you have to practice
through the tutelage of a driving instructor. Then, you go for a test to prove
your proficiency and the last part is being issued with a driver’s license to tackle
the vehicle on your own.
Tackling a vehicle is not easy for the faint-hearted. You may think those
behind the wheels are doing one of the easiest jobs. However that is not the
case. Driving involves careful calculations to avoid hitting the motorist next
to you and decisions have to be made fast and accordingly.
The art of controlling the steering wheel to make it stable and flexible does
not come easy. In fact, the steering wheel is the most vital component that is
in a car (my opinion). If you can’t control it, then the other components like
the gears and pedals will be useless.
When on the road, there are usually the rosy bits and the not so rosy bits.
There is nothing exciting like overtaking someone, especially if the vehicle
you are overtaking is a top of the range contraption that guzzles gas with the
voracity of a hyena. At such times if you are in a ‘small’ car you feel good
knowing well that the sojourn will not last long. But overtaking a car whether
small or big is an act of superiority, it makes one feels like a king on the
road.
Then there are those times when you are forced to drug behind not because you
want but circumstances won’t let you. These happens especially at a time when
one is following a trailer or a sluggish lorry uphill and on a two way stretch
where oncoming traffic prevents one from overtaking. You are forced to abide
because not abiding would mean a fatal crash that may result in the loss of
life.
Again while driving there're some annoying drivers who won’t relent in their bad
driving habits. They are full of themselves and think that they own the road.
This mainly applies to those who drive transit vehicles where most of the
drivers are usually arrogant and carefree. But the most annoying are pedestrians
who cross the road haphazardly. It is irritating when a person crosses the road
and you are driving at break neck speed. In his book Napoleon Hill states that “Anyone
who has experienced a near accident while driving, knows that on such
occasions, the sixth sense often comes to one's rescue, and aids, by split
seconds, in avoiding the accident.”
Life is like driving on the road. Sometimes you are forced to take a constant
acceleration because circumstances may be going against you or are working to
prevent you from moving to the next level. As you are overtaking others you
feel good. That is also the way life is. You will have to overtake those who
are contented with life. They provide you with the best avenue of moving ahead.
The irritating pedestrians and the annoying drivers fall under the bracket of
those occasions where you want to achieve something but circumstances work
against you. This may include but not limited to money, friends and relatives
and hindrances that we have to endure in order to make it to the next
level.
Incidentally, life is unpredictable. It may not necessarily be like the road
that I alluded to but the sixth sense in life exists. It may be analogous to
something else, but the course of it is maybe the same to that that many people
trudge.
