Sad
that a Pakistan school was attacked by Taliban and 100 children killed. Looks
like security has become a gem that we need to not to take for granted. Another
day another life, you have God to thank for having seen yet another day. It is
never easy. Life is vanity they say. You are never sure when your time will dawn, not even the presidents and
kings who are guarded by the secret service are safe. A sniper is on the prowl
waiting to silence those they are paid to assassinate and disappear in thin air
just like that.
That the blood of the innocent children had to be shed in the most horrific
and outrageous incident during the festive season as everyone is in the mood of
Christmas. Since 2007 the annual toll of murders by jihadists has never dropped
below 2,000 and in 2012 and 2013 it was not far off 4,000. Does it mean that
the number of people who die will never cease to decrease. Who in his mind only
thinks of killing innocent beings. Why hapless children for that matter? Why a
school?
The brutality meted out by this militant group known as Tehreek-e-Taliban
Pakistan (TTP) through indiscriminate shooting of an army run school is a case
in point of forces of darkness taking over in a country that has been in
insecure for a long time.
TTP has caused neurotic fear among Pkistani residents, but it has
brought to the fore some of the injustices that go back to time immemorial. The
militant group it is said, is cosseted rather than dismantled and disrupted in
its activities by the ruling class and the army. India, Afghanistan and Pakistan
need to come together in order to disenfranchise the terrorist groups that threaten
world peace. When more than 140 children and youths succumb in the hands of
gunmen, it behooves the state and the world to act to make the world a better
place to live in.
The gory images were not only sickening but they were heart wrenching
and palpable. Those who survived the ordeal are still in shock and it necessary
they are taken for counseling to ensure they never get nightmares.
The gory images of the blood stained floors, bullet raptures walls and
books scattered all over the classes was enough evidence that the attackers had
all along planned the execution to revenge against the army which was killing
their children and families to counter them in their illegal activities.
As such they had warned civilians not to attend military led
institutions and that was the reason they decided to terrorize an army run
college and school.
Shahrukh Khan, 15,
who was shot in both legs but survived by hiding under a bench, said: "One
of my teachers was crying, she was shot in the hand and she was crying in pain. One terrorist then
walked up to her and started shooting her until she stopped making any sound.
All around me my friends were lying injured and dead."
Defeating the Taliban
and other terror groups is not easy. However efforts can be made to lessen the repercussions
the militants have in society.
