Let me keep it simple

Kuteveva

Today I sat for a general drugs test. We were a group of seven guys. When you do group work, you are bound to act on what majority says and not what is the truth. So when the results were released and we were the best group, it was like the best thing to have ever happened. After the results we went to a hall to listen to the story of former drug addicts.

Mende, mkorogo, chrome, madre and kuveveka are new words I learnt today. I guess I have aged or my sheng lingo has easily gone to the dogs. You know you are delving on new grounds when a former dingo turned pastor madingo is to address you and you easily get swayed by his story.

Dingo is sheng for a criminal, mende is a gay dude, mkorogo is a filthy kind of liquor that leaves a stale or feacal like stench in your breath and mouth, chrome or ndeng’a is a gun, madre is drugs and kuveveka is losing track of what you want in life or some say kutupa mbao na randa plus seremala.

Youths are the most easily swayed chaps in Kenya when it comes to drugs. A certain fellow told me that the agents of supplying drugs in the country are usually very smart. You work in the port but even if you know that drugs have been ferried you keep mum for fear of being the next dude having fallen and waits to go six feet under.

Madre as they are known in street parlance have a continually been used in the country for a very long time. A certain hostess was locked up for 18 years when she was found in possession of drugs and since she was 36, she would have been probably been released  when at 54.

Then there was a certain lady who was formerly a school head teacher but the urge to make quick money and become rich led her into drugs. While in remand, she even wrote a book and her reform story caught the eye of the head of state who in turn exercised his clemency powers and pardon her after spending many years behind bars. Unfortunately, she went back to selling drugs and was caught in China. I don’t know what her fate became.

Pastor Dingo is a hero to many. He survived drugs, crime and imprisonment to be able to tell his story in a more exhilarating way to an audience that does not mind to listen.

Those who use drugs have seen so much in life to tell of their experiences. They have stories that are best told by them themselves. Retelling the story may dilute the overall effect leading to poor encoding of the story. But you still tell the story as it is even if it means leaving out the most hilarious parts that made guys have aching ribs as a result of laughter that was continuous.

There is a certain lady who said she started using drugs at the age of 14. Seriously, a 14 year old virtually is too young. Guess that is the same period she probably lost her hymen if she had not lost it earlier. This is because drugs have a heavy toll on women more than they have on men.

So the lady started off with soda laced with Kenya King. A shady local liquor that was sold in small plastic bottles. In her opine, drinking made her cool as it was something that those in her age group rarely engaged in. She later would lament that life is vanity after a very horrifying incident that left her with deep scars on her head.

A certain dude had tried to vibe her while she did not feel like getting disturbed by the man. When the man insisted on talking to her, she talked about the mother of the dude who was unfortunately deceased and that is when hell did break loose.

A white cap bottle landed on her head and did cut her leaving her head bruised like seriously. But as a party animal, she never took the incident as serious and she decided to have braids that could hide the scar.

Her worst moment was when she blacked out for more than two hours during a rugby tournament and was hence forced to quit drugs as it had had devastating consequences on her.

Pastor Dingo has been a shining light to many a youthful citizens who have been white washed into believing that drugs is the solution to their problems. He knows the reason as to why he has to continue in his quest to untangle more youths from the jaws of the deadly scourge that is madre.

When you hear him speak at first, you think he had a rosy life until that point where he says that his eyes are full of blood clot that makes it hard for him to have clear vision. This is as a result of had suicidal feelings that led him to the men in blue who he thought could help him in kicking the bucket since they knew he was a wanted criminal but resorted to instead beating him up.

Drugs drugs drugs. What does one gain when they engage in careless abuse of drugs? Some one said that as long as one never uses a drug, it will remian at the place you found it even for more than ten years.

So many youths are degenerating and falling prey to the tentacles that are apprehensive and keep making life unbearable. Drugs are the solace to those who have lost hope, those who have no jobs, those whose families are in successive predicaments and those who get caught up in the fray due to peer pressure.

Alcohol is the most abused as it provides short term relief to many who use it. What many dont know is the fact that it makes one droop faster and the next imminent thing is death. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse among others are just a few of those who succumbed to drugs.

The number of accidents on our roads as a result of excessive consumption of alcohol and drug use is skyrocketing. Once my sister witnessed a horrific one where a friend she had just been partying with lost his life when the car they were in rolled many times.

If only we could heed and take responsibility of our actions, the number of disasters could have been seriously reduced.

SITUONANE.
