Have
you ever thought of what makes the difference between the successful people in
life and the average John or Jane? The difference is in dreaming that you will
make a difference in this world. If you dream and have an idea that can change
the world into a better place, then don’t give up. You may give up just when
you are on the brink of success.
Take
the case of American entrepreneur Edwin C. Barnes. He wanted to partner with
Thomas Edison, an American inventor and businessman,
and not be an employee. He obviously started as an employee but had his dream
set on being a business associate of Edison. After a short while due to his
burning desire to make it, he became what he wanted.
Another
good example is Robert Kiyosaki. He had the desire to make money in his life.
In his book he states that his real poor but highly educated dad did not
inspire him a lot when it came to matters liquidity. Therefore he went to his
rich dad who taught him how to make money and alas, he started small and
currently he is rich.
Napoleon
Hill in his book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ also alludes to the story uncle of R. U. Darby who discovered gold but had no money.
He lobbied for money from friends and relatives to procure the requisite
machines and they did not disappoint him. He did mining and was able to return
the loan given. He became rich but the gold mine became exhausted. He continued mining but gave up hope
when he was three feet away from gold.
Hopeless,
he sold the gold mine to some junk man for a few hundred dollars. The junk
though thought to be dumb sought the services of an engineer who did not
disappoint. Upon prospecting, the engineer discovered that gold was only three
feet away. As they say the rest is history as the junk made millions out of the
mine.
Years
later armed with experience, Darby having learnt of the previous mistake
ventured into insurance. He decided never to take no as an answer in his quest
towards selling life insurance. ‘I stopped three feet from gold, but I will never stop
because men say 'no' when I ask them to buy insurance.’ He became rich. Darby
is one of a small group of fewer than fifty men who sell more than a million
dollars in life insurance annually.
Have faith In what you believe
Many
people even after listening or reading the stories of those who have made it
think that it is usually impossible to do something constructive. Adolf Hitler
threatened his engineers that if they could not invent a car that does not use
water, he would have all of them beheaded. The engineers out of fear worked on
such a car and this gave birth to Volks Wagen.
Henry
Ford has more wheels than any other person in the world. He never lost hope with his engineers. In
his world he deleted the word ‘impossible’ from his vocabulary. He came up with
the V-8 motor. He chose to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast
in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design for the engine.
When his engineers said that would be impossible. ‘Go ahead,’ Ford commanded,
‘and stay on the job until you succeed no matter how much time is required.’
After
six months the project was still not viable. But Ford still insisted and after
a year, as if by a stroke of magic, the secret was discovered. That is the
secret behind one of the richest men of his time.
Steve
Jobs was also determined to change the world. This saw him get sacked from the
company he help come up with but he never quit in his desire to make it big.
When he got an opportunity to go back to his love ‘Apple’ he restructured it to
become the best brand during his time. But the greatest milestone he achieved
after more than two decades of coming up with the idea was the touch screen
tablets and phones that have been adopted in televisions, computers and other
devices. Indeed his desire to dream and faith in the people he worked with
changed the world.
I
know many who have lost hope especially those in the insurance industry due to the
poor or no remunerations in the short run. But those who stick
to it and never quit are smiling even when a few clients said no.
Helen
Keller became deaf, dumb, and blind shortly after birth. But she became an
inspiration in the world.
If
you are struggling with the notion of implementing an idea, don’t lose hope and
if the thing you wish to do is right, and you believe in it, go ahead and do
it! Put your dream across, and never mind what ‘they’ say if you meet with temporary defeat,
for ‘they,’ perhaps, do not know
that EVERY FAILURE BRINGS WITH IT THE SEED OF AN EQUIVALENT SUCCESS.
Remember
DREAMS ARE THE SEEDLINGS OF REALITY. And above all God moves in mysterious
ways, His wonders to perform.
